Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Taklbox. Using the app means you accept them. Taklbox is operated by Taklbox LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("we", "us"), and these terms are an agreement between you and Taklbox LLC.
The most important thing
Taklbox is a guide. It is not the law, and it is not a substitute for the official regulations.
The app tells you what it believes the size and season rules are for a species in a place at a time. It does not check permits, gear restrictions, special management zones, aggregate bag limits across species, or federal waters. Rules change, sometimes mid-season and at short notice.
Every legality card links to the official agency's rules. Check the official source before you keep a fish. You are responsible for fishing legally.
The same applies to everything else the app works out. Species identification is a suggestion you confirm, not a determination. Length from a photograph is an estimate. Weight is derived from an average fish of that species and length. Where the app is unsure it says so, and "unknown" means unknown rather than "fine".
Who can use it
You must be at least 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
Your account
You need an account to use Taklbox. You are responsible for what happens under it. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.
You can delete your account at any time under Menu → Account. Deleting it removes your catches, photographs, shared posts, comments, likes and follows from our servers.
Your catches are yours
You own your photographs and your catch records. We claim no ownership of them.
When you choose to share a catch, you give us permission to display it in the app to other anglers, and to store the copies needed to do that. That permission covers only what sharing requires, lasts only while the catch is shared, and ends when you unshare or delete it. We will not sell your photographs, license them to third parties, or use them in advertising.
Sharing is off by default and is decided per catch. Nothing is shared because you forgot a setting.
Separately from sharing, creating an account lets us count your catches in anonymous totals, combined with other anglers' and coarsened so that nothing points back to you or to a spot. The Privacy Policy describes exactly how. This covers private catches as well as shared ones, and it ends when you delete your account.
Community rules
The feed is for fishing. In the catches you share, your profile, your comments and the GIFs you choose, do not post:
- Content that is not a fish you caught
- Anything sexual, violent, hateful or harassing
- Anyone else's photographs presented as yours
- Spam, advertising, or links to other services
- Anything that identifies another person without their agreement
- Content that encourages illegal fishing
You can report a post and block another angler from inside the app. Reported posts are hidden from you immediately and reviewed. We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules, and we may do so without notice where the content is seriously harmful.
Subscriptions
Taklbox Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, yearly, monthly or weekly, billed through your Apple Account. The price, the billing period and what is included are shown before you are charged.
- Renewal. A subscription renews for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Apple tells you before a higher price applies.
- Free trial. Where a free trial is offered, it is available once per Apple Account and becomes a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Cancelling. Cancel any time in your Apple Account's subscription settings, or under Menu → Taklbox Pro in the app. Pro stays on until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, and Apple's refund policy applies.
- Pro belongs to the Taklbox account it was bought for. Signing in to a different Taklbox account with the same Apple Account does not carry it across.
What we do not promise
Taklbox is provided as it is. We do not warrant that regulations data is complete or current, that species identification is correct, that measurements are accurate, that maps, depth shading, tides or forecasts are right, or that the app will be available without interruption. Maps and depth shading are for planning a trip, not for navigation.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for fines or penalties arising from fishing, or for any amount greater than what you have paid us in the previous twelve months. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Ending it
You may stop using Taklbox at any time and delete your data or your account under Menu → Account. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a Pro subscription: cancel it with Apple. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
